Now that both kids are schooling at home, and that we have some close friends who are the same ages as Max and Elise, we are trying to have a "field trip" of sorts with them on Tuesdays and then the Leavenworth field trip/P.E./instructional learning on Fridays.
Here are some we've done through the month of September:
- I posted about it early in the post titled "school" but here is a picture again: at the Deanna Rose farm.

- Went on a hike near Weston, MO. We originally were geocaching but the trail took us into some waist-high grass and bushes and it was still super hot with tons of ticks and chiggers, so it ended up being a plain hike with beautiful scenery.

| We ended up at the Red Barn Farm where they served fresh peach ices - with peaches from their peach trees! A perfect end to a hot, hot afternoon! |

And October:
- And pumpkin sauce (puree)
(This is Max and Ben trying to balance a bird on their big toes. Max's friend is in gymnastics and was able to accomplish it for a long time. - this was after making pumpkin puree)
- Visited the Fort Leavenworth Frontier Army Museum and the Library on the military base (picture below) - I didn't take pictures at the army museum for some reason...
- We also went to the homeschooling class at the zoo. It was, of course, a huge focus on science - but each month they focus on a specific animal, visit that animal - interact as it is fed, etc., and then do some other activities that correlate to the animal topic.
- We went to two pumpkin patches, one below with the school group and one that I'll post separately because it's Schaake's..and...well...it's tradition to visit there.
- And we made corn husk dolls
