Changes in Sycamore Cottage: Staining of the Floor

We met with the people who stained our hardwood on Thursday but didn't get over to see it until Sunday. It's not polished because they wait until they are nearly finished with everything before sanding it down and putting on the finishing coat.  

When we met with the floor guys they had sanded down all of the wood so it was a beautiful light, soft color.  They then taped off two sections, (right in the middle of the floor!) and poured a color onto one section.  We wanted it slightly darker, so they went out to their truck to get another color and then poured it onto the second section. It was perfect! 

Seeing this floor color has been one the things to which I've been most looking forward. 

Our island is stained blue.  I'm not totally sold on it and can still have it painted.  Although, Nate really likes it, so we may keep it, but what do you think?
