Remember That Ingenuity We Talked About Earlier? And Some Creativity Too.

You know this girl loves her swing!  Since we're in a rental we haven't been able to put a swing up for the past nine months, but not to be thwarted, Elise made one herself out of the same rope that was earlier made into a jump rope. 

Nate and I both have bad experiences from our childhood of taking action figures and painting them or making some kind of change to them.  So, when we found that Max had taken a couple of Skylanders that he had purchased himself and painted them, at first we were both frustrated, annoyed or bothered in some way - because we only remembered our own disappointment of changing the original during childhood.  Perhaps in this case they may learn from their painting too, but in the meantime, Nate and I had a quick look with each other that meant "Let's be encouraging about their creativity and try to focus on the positive."  (Though we talked about it later in our room, which is how I found out he had a bad experience with doing something similar in childhood too.)

These are well done - and they look very nice!

She started to paint a canvas of the butterflies Bilbo sees when climbing the tree in Mirkwood forest (the cartoon version). 

 He painted his three and one of hers (she wanted to paint it but "needed to keep going on [her] canvas").
