Fixing the house - unexpected projects

Since we've been prepping our house to sale, we've had a lot of projects going.  But once we put it on the market last month we kind of stopped that and have gotten to relax...until the past couple of weeks. 

Our dryer stopped drying clothes.  I brought the kids down with me to take it apart so that they could learn how to clean it (and prevent potential dryer fires). 

And we found this mess of lint clogging the lint trap tube (maybe that's what it's called).

Unfortunately, excessive lint wasn't the cause of why it's not drying - so we're still working that out.  We've did figure out that doing one load of laundry every day and laying them out to dry in the sun works really well. 

New Water Line
One day I went to the dentist and came home to this (below). It's one part of our fence leaning against the other part of the fence.  The city water company was over to fix a (long-time, like since February long time) leak that was connecting our water line to theirs.   

About four hours after the city fixed their our main water line broke!  It was a sad moment but it was also a blessing because we knew that the water line was about the only thing that we hadn't replaced on this house and now...everything will be new. 

 The small picture is the new stream in our driveway and the larger one is our new trench for the water-line.  Living six days without water really gave us an appreciation for plumbing, how much water it takes to flush the toilet, water in our food storage (which wasn't enough for that amount of time), and gratitude for the large tool that allowed us to turn the water on at the road, once a day so that we could shower, wash a load of laundry, and do the dishes. 

Basement Issues

Along with the already super-saturated driveway and front lawn, we got many days of much needed rain this week.  Unfortunately, even with our sump-pump, our basement couldn't quite handle that amount of water on an already over-watered lawn from the broken water line.  Luckily, we have many friends who loaned us their fans, dehumidifiers, and shop-vacs and it was cleaned up pretty quickly.
