Elise's Birthday Party

Afternoon Tea (or strawberry-lemonade)

Elise had her birthday party early this year since we didn't know if we were going to be needing to pack up to move around her birthday (our original closing date was June 17th, the day before her birthday - luckily that's not really the date now).

She chose to have a Downton Abbey-style tea party complete with cucumber sandwiches, scones, and pretty china.  Each girl wore a dress and had gloves and pearls to wear.  Max and his friend, Ben, were good sports and acted as footmen - serving the food to the ladies.
The girls have seen pictures from the twenties and said that they needed one without them smiling.

We played jacks (which may or may not have been played by fashionable ladies of that time). And had a race to see who could build the highest tower of sugar cubes (because we had to use them for something)!
