Dear Friends and Family,
We didn’t want to go all the way through January without letting our loved ones know what we did and how we were fairing in 2008. So, here are numbers from our past year.
1 – Uncle Jon came to live with us in August. It’s been nice to have him with us: another real cook in the house as it is not Krista’s favorite thing; free babysitting; you get the idea.
2 – New puppies were given to us in October: Polly and Digory (the two main characters in “The Magician’s Nephew”; which Krista and Nate have been reading to the kids) are their names. They are good dogs most of the time. So far, they can sit and stay on command. Digory is very mellow and Polly is turning out to be a little spunky. This coming week, we are looking forward to being trained on how to train them.
3 – The number of vacations taken. Actually, we went to Branson, MO. twice, Arkansas for Christmas, and in the summer - see number nine.
4 – The age Elise turned in June: She is our very imaginative, cute and cuddly little girl. She loves any kind of animal but especially puppies on “leashes” (rope, ribbon, anything she can tie on a stuffed animal). She can tell you make and model of many cars and who of our friends drive them: “Look Mom, it’s a PT Cruiser like *****’s!!” Elise loves to help and is a good sister; laughing at her brother’s jokes and being nice to Max most of the time (she does know how to push his buttons if she wants to). Elise and Krista have recently taken to baking together and they both love it!
5 – Youth in the Teacher's Quorum Nate has worked with at church - they are all outstanding young men and Nate really enjoys being a part of campouts, football, frisbee, culinary arts, and other young men activities.
6 – The number of times Krista leads the music on Sundays (sacrament meeting, choir practice, sometimes primary, sometimes young women’s or Relief Society - boy do her arms get tired!).
7 – The age Max turned in December. He is in first grade, is an avid reader and loves Star Wars, Transformers, and Wolverine from X-Men. Max is very fun and loves to be silly. At school he has been nick-named “Little Gentleman” by the adults and when he is picked up from school we hear a dozen or more “bye Max!”s from children of all ages. A real delight, one morning, was waking up to silence, going into the kids’ bedroom and finding Max reading the scriptures to Elise. He is a good big brother and likes to learn new things and help us with projects; he especially likes to fix broken things around the house (usually with Elmer’s glue, but soon it will be gorilla glue, then screws and hammers).
8 – The number of years of marriage Nate and Krista celebrated this past February. We enjoy working on projects together and usually find that we have a lot of the same ideas; and when we don’t, we like to build on each others’ until we come up with something really nice. We still have a lot of fun together and are glad to have been blessed to be married to each other.
9 – The number of states we drove through or stayed in for our family vacation this summer: Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Montana, and South Dakota – all in one trip!
10 – Plus six is the amount of improvements made to the home this year: 1 new door, 4 new walls, 7 new windows, 3 new cabinets, a re-organized closet and wonderful, clean, grey siding: thanks to all the helpers; Nate’s dad, Uncle Jon, Krista’s friends and the Elder’s Quorum.
As you can see we had a fun filled and busy, but very, very blessed year. We send this letter with love and appreciation, because we know that everyone that it is being sent to has touched our lives in some way, allowing us to grow and learn. We are grateful for you, our friends, and for our family; have a very happy new year.

Those are great accomplishments, Beyeler Family!!! Congratulations! And Happy 2009!
Great! It was nice to see the pictures as well as see all you did in writing. You are a wonderful family.
We just celebrated 8 years of marriage, too. I am also the choir director, chorister and ward music chairman - plus I substitute for the primary pianist. My arms get tired, too! ha ha!
Jill, that is pretty crazy! Apparently, my ward is the only one in our stake that doesn't have a choir director, ward chorister AND ward music chairmen as three different callings. At our meeting they all looked at me with pity (but truthfully, it sure beats having to go through so many people to pick out three to four hymns every Sunday!).
