Texas Trip

Last week the kids and I went to Texas to visit my brother and his wife, who had just moved there from California. We were expecting sweltering heat and the need for staying in the pool all day. It luckily was quite nice, weather-wise, but we still found a way to make it to the pool just about every day. It was really, really fun to see the kids interacting with their aunt and uncle...AND it was really nice for me to be able to talk with my very funny sister-in-law and visit with my still-the-class-clown-brother. We visited old Ft. Worth: to see a cattle "run" that they had twice a day "weather permitting". I guess I was picturing all those videos of the bull on the loose in South America and people running in front of it trying to get out the way, but these long-horns just sauntered along the brick street and there was no need to run to get out of the way. It was pretty cool to see that many of them in one place with a Trail Boss leading them with kind of a sing-song voice and all the swing, point, flank and drag cowboys surrounding them. After seeing the cattle, we searched for the exit in a stockyard maze for 45 minutes. One of the days there, we got to see our friends (who are in the process of moving) from our ward. The whole vacation was a very relaxing and we had a very fun time. Max and Elise did not want to leave Aunt J and Uncle E.
